MedSuite, a technology company serving the behavioral health market, today announced the appointment of Fred Martin as Chief Executive Officer. Martin joins MedSuite with more than two decades of leadership experience across healthcare technology, bringing deep expertise in product strategy, operational excellence, and value creation in PE-backed environments.
MedSuite provides electronic health records, medication administration, treatment program management, scheduling, clinical documentation, and revenue cycle management to customers that include behavioral health systems, addiction treatment providers, and human service organizations across the U.S. These organizations serve in-patient and outpatient facilities, as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“In a thorough search of health tech leaders, Fred stood out from the first conversation,” said Ross Croley, Chairman of the MedSuite Board of Directors and CEO of Greater Sum Ventures, MedSuite’s control investor. “He’s exactly the kind of leader MedSuite needs at this stage – someone who has built and scaled technology companies, who operates with clarity, and who understands the urgency of AI transformation in healthcare.”
Martin arrives at MedSuite with firsthand experience translating AI from concept to impact. He will build on that background by assessing where AI can deliver the most meaningful outcomes for MedSuite’s customers and embedding those capabilities into the core of the company’s platform. MedSuite’s next chapter includes AI as a lens through which every product decision, workflow, and customer engagement is evaluated and executed.
He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of SubjectWell (now Clariness), a patient recruitment platform for clinical trials backed by WindRose Health Investors. During his tenure, he led the company through multiple acquisitions, market expansion, and a strategic shift from a venture-backed to a private equity-backed business model. Most notably, he led a significant AI implementation that reshaped how the company delivered value to its customers.
Prior to SubjectWell, Martin spent more than five years at Medrio, a provider of e-clinical software for clinical data management. He joined as Vice President of Engineering & Product Management and rose through Chief Product Officer to Chief Operating Officer, overseeing product strategy, design, engineering, quality, and marketing for a global team.
Earlier in his career, Martin held senior product and strategy leadership roles at MatrixCare (acquired by ResMed for $750 million), PointClickCare, Press Ganey Associates, Premier, and Boston Scientific, spanning EHR platforms, patient experience analytics, supply chain intelligence, and medical device commercialization.
Martin added, “Behavioral health and IDD providers have spent years working around their software instead of working with it. Our customers are asking for a modern interface and one place where the chart and the claim finally live together. That harmonization, along with AI-first initiatives, will be my primary focus and what our teams will be measured against.”
Martin joins an established leadership team at MedSuite including Chief Financial Officer Jason Vandenbogaard, Chief Operating Officer Brien Burkett, Chief Technology Officer Eddie Frederick, and Chief Growth Officer Imraan Hassam.
