BioConsortia, Inc., a microbial discovery and development company advancing high-performance biological solutions for global agriculture, today announced the appointment of Matthew Mouw as Vice President of Business Development.
Dr. Mouw joins BioConsortia at a pivotal point in the company’s growth. With a broad portfolio of advanced microbial technologies progressing toward commercialization, BioConsortia is expanding its global partnerships across biostimulants, biofertilizers and biocontrol products for vegetable, row and other high-value crops.
“Matt is the right addition at the right time for BioConsortia,” said Marcus Meadows-Smith, Chief Exectuive Officer. “Our pipeline has reached a level of maturity and breadth that creates significant commercial opportunity, and Matt combines scientific depth with commercial judgment across both broad-acre and vegetable crops. That combination will be invaluable as we execute our growth plans and convert differentiated science into partnerships and products in the market.”
Dr. Mouw brings more than three decades of agricultural science, technology and commercial leadership to BioConsortia. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Ball Horticultural Company, where he led advanced technology and innovation programs supporting the development of flower and vegetable genetics. His responsibilities included guiding multidisciplinary scientific teams across global research locations and translating emerging technologies into new products and capabilities aligned with grower and market needs. He also led Ball’s commercial business in Brazil.
Before joining Ball, Mouw spent 17 years with DuPont Pioneer in a series of scientific and commercial leadership positions. His experience included identifying and developing new business opportunities and leading commercial activities involving crop traits, seed treatments, biologicals, and other agricultural technologies.
“BioConsortia has built an unusually broad and differentiated portfolio of microbial technologies,” said Mouw. “The opportunity now is to connect that science with the right partners, crops and markets. I am excited to help expand the company’s presence in vegetables while also advancing commercial opportunities across row crops and other important agricultural segments. BioConsortia’s capabilities in biostimulants, biofertilizers and biocontrol create a compelling platform for collaboration and long-term growth.”
In his new role, Mouw will focus on developing strategic partnerships and commercial opportunities across BioConsortia’s portfolio. His responsibilities will include helping partners access differentiated microbial solutions designed to support nutrient efficiency, crop productivity, stress resilience, root and soil health, and crop protection.
Dr. Mouw will help expand BioConsortia’s global partnership activity, with particular emphasis on vegetables and other high-value crop opportunities across the company’s biostimulant, biofertilizer and biocontrol portfolio. BioConsortia’s integrated capabilities span microbial discovery, genomics, gene editing, fermentation, formulation and field validation, enabling the development of stable, partner-ready biological products designed to perform consistently in commercial farming systems.
“Matt brings a rare combination of scientific understanding, commercial leadership and direct experience in vegetable and broad-acre markets,” said Sarah Reiter, Senior Vice President of Business Development. “As our pipeline expands and more programs become ready for partnership, his ability to connect market needs with differentiated technology will help us build the right collaborations and accelerate commercial execution.”
Mouw earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Missouri and an MBA from the University of Iowa. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Colorado College.
