Super Ego Holding (“Super Ego”), an equipment leasing company serving over 1,200 licensed carrier companies across the United States, today announced a series of updates to its lease and rental policies.
Effective November 1, 2026, Super Ego will apply new safety and eligibility requirements to all new lease and rental agreements, any renewals of existing agreements, and all applications from existing customers for additional equipment. This initiative builds on the company’s existing standards for carriers and drivers, and furthers its comprehensive, company-wide commitment to safety.
Key updates to Super Ego’s safety policies include:
- Minimum FMCSA safety ratings: Customers—including new customers, and existing customers applying for new leases or rentals—will be required to provide their current FMCSA safety rating as part of the application process. Carriers or operating entities with a Conditional safety rating will not be approved for new agreements, renewals or additional equipment until their safety rating improves. Equipment may also not be operated under, or assigned to, a carrier or operating entity with a Conditional safety rating during the term of an agreement.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) eligibility requirements: Owner-operators with non-domiciled Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs) will not be approved to rent or lease equipment. Similarly, new applications from carriers whose owners have non-domiciled CDLs, or a non-domiciled identification document, will not be approved. All applicants will be required to provide current driving records and other documentation necessary to verify identity, CDL status, operating authority, and regulatory eligibility.
- English Language Proficiency: As part of the application process, all owner-operators will need to submit driving records, which Super Ego will review for English Language Proficiency (ELP) violations or deficiencies. Owner-operators whose records indicate an ELP violation will not be approved until the issue has been resolved with the relevant regulatory authorities and all required ELP eligibility requirements are met.
“Safety is a shared responsibility across the trucking industry,” said Aleksandar Mimic, CEO of Super Ego. “These updates reinforce our continued commitment to meeting the equipment needs of our customers while supporting a safer, more reliable trucking industry.”
While Super Ego is not a carrier company, and does not employ or dispatch drivers, maintain electronic logging devices, or transport freight, as an equipment lessor, Super Ego has always believed it has a meaningful role to play in setting clear safety standards around who operates the trucks and trailers our customers put on the road.
The updated requirements will apply throughout the term of a lease or rental agreement. Customers will be required to identify, and provide accurate and current information regarding, the carrier or operating entity under which the leased or rented equipment will be operated. This information will also be required to be continuously maintained, and any changes to the carrier or operating entity using the equipment must be reported to Super Ego for approval in advance. Super Ego will vigorously enforce these standards, and any failure to meet them may result in immediate termination of the applicable agreement.
