Rehovot, Israel, Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Nugentis announced that China Automotive: From Tech Transfer Nation to Startup Super Nation, the debut book by company founder Hagai Gat, is now available as a print edition on Amazon. The hardcopy follows the digital release and gives readers a physical reference volume covering one of the most consequential industrial shifts of the past two decades.

Book cover
The book traces how China moved from importing foreign automotive technology under joint-venture mandates to producing the vehicles, batteries and software platforms that now set the pace for the global industry. Gat argues that the change was not incremental but tectonic, and that manufacturers outside China have consistently misread both its speed and its direction.
Drawing on more than twenty years of work inside the Chinese market, including six years based in Beijing, Gat examines the policy decisions, capital flows and engineering culture behind the rise of companies that were unknown outside China a decade ago and now export to Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. The book covers the electric vehicle transition, battery supply chains, the emergence of software-defined vehicles, and what the shift means for legacy automakers, suppliers and policymakers.
“Most of the analysis still treats China’s auto industry as a manufacturing story,” said Hagai Gat, founder of Nugentis. “It stopped being one years ago. A country that spent decades licensing other people’s technology became the place where the technology gets invented, and the companies that missed that turn are now competing against products they just began understanding and lacking access to critical materials to fully compete.”
Gat writes from an insider-outsider vantage point built over a career spanning airline logistics in Beijing, cross-border consulting, and market intelligence work connecting China with Israel, Europe, and Latin America. He has closed and executed a significant volume of cross-border transactions and spoke at the Guangzhou Auto Show in 2025.
The material in the book underpins the curriculum Gat delivers through Shifting Phoenix Academy, an education and training platform offering programs on the automotive and energy transition for executive, engineering, marketing and business development audiences. A second title, The Awakening Condor, examining market entry across Latin America, is scheduled for 2027.
